About Me
As an author of inspirational novels and devotions, my goal is to use the written word to entertain and encourage people while illuminating the redemptive love of God. As a speaker, I enjoy presenting hope through God's Word, especially by leading women's events. As a singer and songwriter, my heart's desire is to lead people into the presence of God through music.
What else can I tell you about me? Here are just a few things... I grew up in the beautiful foothills of North Carolina and was raised by two loving parents. I have two wonderful sisters- one older and one younger- and will assert without hesitation that Middle Child Syndrome is a perfectly legitimate condition. As a young adult I ventured an astonishing 43 miles from my childhood home, to settle in the suburbs of the big city of Winston-Salem, NC. As the daughter of a pastor, I spent much of my early twenties attempting to prove the stereotypes about preacher's kids. In my mid-twenties, the promise of Proverbs 22:6 began to be evident in my life. As I trusted Him, God blessed me with a husband, Alex, and shortly after with three beautiful children- Elizabeth, Sarah, and Daniel. God also granted our heart's desire to adopt from foster care and added our son, Benjamin, to the family. Our home is in the quaint town of Lewisville (just outside the big city of Winston-Salem). |

An Unexpected Journey
I didn't set out to write novels. I was sitting on the beach in July of 2017, with my toes in the sand, when a character introduced herself in my brain. Literally, while watching the waves, this wandering, restless, longing woman, who would eventually be named Colleen, was born as a book character, and God allowed me to use her story as a platform for foster care and adoption advocacy- a cause near and dear to my heart. "Grace and Lavender" was released by Ambassador International on March 1, 2019. It's an inspirational story about purpose and possibilities.
When the first book was finished, I continued writing and haven't stopped since. The second novel, "Where I Was Planted," released in July, 2019. Written from the perspective of a young boy, set in 1961, it's another work of fiction that shares the very real redemptive love of God.
As a proud North Carolinian, I set the first book in a fictional town in the Piedmont of my state; the second book is set in the Mountains; and the third, released April 1, 2020, is set on our magnificent coast. "Shenanigans" is a very unique story that includes retirement home pranks, a geriatric romance, and of course, a theme of God's goodness. In 2021, my first novel became part of a series with the release of my fourth novel, "New Wine Transportation Company," set in the same small town and centered around the same church as "Grace & Lavender."
In February 2022, I released my fifth novel, titled Songs for a Sunday. This book is set in Winston-Salem, North Carolina and was published by Iron Stream Media. Songs for a Sunday is my first split-time story and includes a storyline in the present day and another in the 1960s.
